The State of Florida may give you an exemption from the Basic Recruit Training for out-of-state, or federal of military police officers who qualify.

A 2 week (92 hour) Equivalency of Training Academy for corrections and law enforcement officers is available for anyone who:

1. Has been employed for at least 12 months within an 18-month period in a full-time, sworn position
2. Has been separated from their most recent qualifying employment for no more than 8 years
3. Has received training in the following areas:

Only an employing agency or an FDLE selection center can approve the academy application. Complete the form  CJSTC 76  through question 12, attach proof of training and send it to a Criminal Justice Selection Centers.  Please be aware that once you have been notified of exemption, you have only one (1) year to attend an approved Equivalency of Training course and pass the State Officer Certification Examination.

The curriculum from your basic training academy is usually the best source for training information, but in-service training or college courses can also be used to meet the requirement for documentation.

Your experience may entitle you to additional money above the starting salary.

If you are a Law Enforcement or Corrections officer who is certified in another state or through the Federal Government and have at least one year of full-time experience, no more than 8 years ago, you may qualify for the Equivalency of Training Academy.

Once hired, CCSO will pay academy costs, hotel fees, per diem and your salary while you attend the Academy.

If you have been retired or separated in good standing from a Florida certified position for greater than 4 years but less than 8 years you may qualify for the Equivalency of Training Academy.

Put your skills and abilities to work serving the community as a Reserve Deputy.

If you are interested in law enforcement but want to stay in your current career, this is the program for you.

You can be a uniformed patrol deputy and can participate in many areas of the CCSO.  Special assignments  are available in our Youth Relations Bureau for Florida Certified and Florida Certified eligible deputies.

This is a volunteer (unpaid) position.

HOW TO APPLY
Reserve Deputies are required to complete the same hiring process as full-time members. You must have Law Enforcement or Reserve Certification to be eligible for this position.

Your 2 or 4 year degree can qualify you for a law enforcement deputy position.

As a member of the CCSO, our tuition reimbursement program will help pay up to $5,000 for classes you attend while working at the CCSO.
