What is the Autism Support Project?

Autism is the fastest growing developmental disability in the world with a diagnosis rate of 1 in 34 children (March, 2023-www.nih.gov).

It’s presence is recognizable in Collier County as well.  In 2021, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office created the Autism Support Project (ASP) in an effort to provide a local resource to our residents.  The Project is designed to provide training to first responders (law enforcement, firefighters & Emergency Medical Service personnel).

We also work closely with our community partners in providing education to parents, caregivers, businesses and citizens.  Lastly, the ASP acts as a support resource to assist schools, therapy groups, hospitals and the community with referral resources and suggestions to address the needs of those in need within this segment of Collier County.
