Special Needs Shelters are available for those who cannot go to a regular shelter due to special medical needs. These shelters provide medical but they are not for everyone.

The Collier County Emergency Management Department maintains a “Person’s With Special Needs” registry. In the event of a hurricane or other catastrophe, the CCSO, the Collier County Health Department, the Collier County Emergency Medical Services, the Collier County Public Schools and the American Red Cross will provide special medical sheltering and transportation to a shelter.

You must pre-register and have a caregiver accompany you to use a Special Needs Shelter. There are specific requirements and procedures to register.
