COLLIER COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE FIREARMS RANGE RULES
· NO LOADING OR UNLOADING OF FIREARMS EXCEPT AT DESIGNATED
LOCATIONS ON THE RANGE, AND ONLY UNDER THE DIRECTION AND
SUPERVISION OF A FIREARMS INSTRUCTOR.
· A FIREARMS INSTRUCTOR HAS TO BE PRESENT ANYTIME THE FIREARMS
RANGE IS BEING USED.
· ALL RANGE ACTIVITIES WILL BE COORDINATED THROUGH THE RANGE
MANAGER.
· APPROVED HEARING AND EYE PROTECTION WILL BE WORN BY ANYONE
SHOOTING OR OBSERVING SHOOTERS ON THE RANGE. EYE AND EAR
PROTECTION WILL BE APPROVED BY THE RANGE MANAGER.
· NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES SHALL BE ALLOWED ON OR IN THE VICINITY OF
THE RANGE.
· THE RANGE MANAGER WILL BE NOTIFIED OF ANY INJURY AT THE RANGE. HE
WILL RECEIVE A COMPLETE REPORT REGARDING THE INJURY FROM THE
FIREARMS INSTRUCTOR WHO WAS IN CHARGE AT THE TIME.
· THE RANGE FLAG WILL BE FLOWN ANYTIME THE RANGE IS IN USE.
· ALL FIREARMS WILL BE HOLSTERED AND/OR PROPERLY SECURED UNLESS
UNDER THE DIRECTION AND SUPERVISION OF A FIREARMS INSTRUCTOR.
· NO HORSEPLAY OR UNSAFE HANDLING OF FIREARMS ON THE RANGE.
· AFTER RANGE ACTIVITIES ARE FINISHED, THE FIREARMS INSTRUCTOR IN
CHARGE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CLEANING UP THE RANGE, POLICING UP BRASS,
AND POSTING NEW TARGETS.
· WHEN SHOOTING STEEL TARGETS, YOU MUST BE A MINIMUM OF 10 YARDS
FROM THE TARGET, DO NOT SET UP ON CONCRETE, AND BE AWARE OF LEAD
SPLATTER UP, DOWN, AND TO THE SIDES WHEN SETTING UP.
· A FIREARMS INSTRUCTOR WILL INSPECT ALL FIREARMS FOR SAFETY AND
FUNCTION PRIOR TO THEIR BEING FIRED ON THE RANGE.
· ALL FIRING SHALL BE RESTRICTED TO “DOWN RANGE” WITHIN THE
EMBANKMENT AREA.
